Fitness, tested

The interview checks you're a fit person: that you understand your legal duties and can run the service your application describes.

Your documents

Questions are built from your own statement of purpose and policies — inconsistency between what you say and what you submitted is the classic failure.

2–4 sessions

Most candidates are interview-ready after two to four focused sessions — booked around your schedule, online or in person.

The themes we rehearse

Interviews follow the five key questions. We coach you to answer each theme with a structure: what you do, how it's recorded, and how you'd evidence it.

Safeguarding scenarios

"A carer reports a bruise…" — recognising, responding, referring and recording, including local authority thresholds.

Medication and risk

Errors, competency checks, risk assessments and how you balance independence with safety.

Staffing and recruitment

Safer recruitment, induction, training, supervision — and what you'd do when someone falls short.

Governance and well-led

Audits, oversight, notifications and how you'll know things are working — the well-led evidence loop.

Duty of candour

What openness means in practice when something goes wrong — apology, notification and learning.

Your statement of purpose

Knowing your own application inside out — service model, people, locations and regulated activities.

How the coaching works

1

Baseline session

We review your application and run a short practice round to find strengths and gaps — no judgement, just a map.

2

Knowledge building

Targeted work on weak themes with plain-English briefings, your policies and an answer structure you can reuse.

3

Full mock interview

A realistic, timed rehearsal with scenario questions and follow-ups, then structured feedback on every answer.

4

Final polish

A confidence run close to the real date, plus a one-page crib of your key facts, figures and evidence examples.

Interview booked? Let's get you ready for it.

Interview questions, answered

Ask us anything →
Who gets interviewed by CQC?
Registered manager applicants, and often the nominated individual or provider partners during registration. Interviews also happen outside registration — for example after a change of manager. We coach anyone facing a CQC conversation, including whole leadership teams.
How long is the interview and what format is it?
Expect roughly one to two hours, usually by video call, with an inspector working through your application and scenario questions. Format varies by region and case, so we rehearse both quick-fire and deep-dive styles.
What happens if I don't pass?
CQC may ask for more evidence, propose to refuse, or invite a fresh application after the gaps are addressed. It costs time, not just pride. If you've already had a difficult interview, we'll debrief it honestly and rebuild your preparation before the next attempt.
Will you give me scripted answers?
No — inspectors see through scripts, and follow-up questions unravel them. We teach you a structure for building your own answers from your service's real policies and evidence, so you sound like exactly what you are: a manager who knows their service.
My interview is next week — is it too late?
No. We keep short-notice slots for exactly this — an intensive session or two focused on your weakest themes and a full mock. Call us today and we'll fit you in this week, evenings included.
