SERVICE 06 · STRENGTHEN

Find out what CQC would find — before they do.

A realistic dry run of your CQC assessment: observation, staff conversations, record sampling and a document review against the quality statements — finished with a RAG-rated report and a prioritised action plan your team can start the same week.

On-site or hybrid RAG report in 5 days No disruption to care
Mock inspection findings being reviewed with a care team

Your mock inspection covers

All five key questions, weighted like CQC
Care records, MARs and staff files sampled
Staff and, where appropriate, people you support heard
Manager walkthrough of the well-led evidence
RAG-rated report mapped to quality statements
Prioritised action plan plus a follow-up call

Assessed the way CQC assesses

We test each key question through the same evidence CQC uses — what people experience, what staff say, what we observe and what your records show.

Safe

Safeguarding, risk, medication, staffing levels, infection control and learning from incidents.

Effective

Assessment, consent, training, nutrition and working across services for good outcomes.

Caring

Dignity, independence and how people are treated as individuals — observed, not just written down.

Responsive

Person-centred planning, complaints, accessible information and equity of experience.

Well-led

Governance, culture, oversight and improvement — where most ratings are won and lost.

From booking to action plan in two weeks

1

Scope the visit

Service type, size, rating history and any worries you already have — we plan the day around real risk.

2

The inspection day

Observation, staff conversations and record sampling — professional, discreet and respectful of care delivery.

3

RAG report in 5 days

Findings mapped to the quality statements — green to keep, amber to tighten, red to fix first, with evidence noted.

4

Fix with support

A walkthrough call with your leadership team, then optional hands-on help to close the reds and ambers.

Mock inspection questions, answered

Ask us anything →
How long does a mock inspection take?
Usually one full day on-site for a single location, with the report five working days later. Larger or multi-site services may need two days. Document review can happen remotely beforehand to make the day itself sharper.
Will it disrupt care or unsettle staff?
No — we work around care delivery and brief staff that this is practice, not performance management. Most teams find it reassuring: they get to experience inspection questions with nothing at stake, which is exactly the point.
Do you give us a predicted rating?
We give you an honest indicative position for each key question — where you'd likely sit and why — but no one can promise what CQC will decide, and we won't pretend otherwise. What you get is certainty about your gaps and a plan to close them.
When is the right time to book one?
Any time you'd benefit from an outside view: newly registered and expecting a first assessment, a while since your last one, after significant changes, or ahead of a known return visit. If you're mid-enforcement, start with our compliance support instead — then use a mock to test the fixes.
Could the findings be used against us?
The report is yours, confidential, and framed as quality improvement — which is evidence of good governance, not a liability. Acting on findings (and recording that you did) strengthens your well-led story. Ignoring them is the only bad outcome.
