£0 to apply

CQC charges no upfront application fee — an annual provider fee applies once you're registered, based on service type and size.

10+ weeks

CQC's typical assessment window after you submit. Plan for 3–6 months end to end — preparation is where time is won.

5 key questions

Your application and interview are assessed against CQC's five key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive, well-led.

Who this service is for

Whether you're starting from scratch or expanding, we shape the application around your service model.

New founders

Starting a home care agency, supported living service or care home — and registering with CQC for the first time.

New registered managers

Managers preparing their own application and fit person interview, with coaching from people who know what CQC asks.

Growing providers

Registered providers adding a new location, regulated activity or service type — or recovering from a refused application.

How we get you registered

A clear, managed path from first call to certificate — you focus on building your service, we handle the paperwork and preparation.

1

Scope and eligibility check

Week 1

We confirm your regulated activities, service types and business structure, check your registered manager meets the requirements, and map exactly what your application needs.

2

Documents, policies and evidence

Weeks 2–5

We write your statement of purpose, build a tailored policy pack, and prepare the evidence CQC expects — governance, safeguarding, recruitment, training and financial viability.

3

Application and DBS submission

Week 6

We complete and submit your provider and registered manager applications, with CQC-countersigned DBS checks arranged and every declaration consistent across documents — the detail that prevents rejections.

4

Fit person interview preparation

While CQC assess

Mock interviews built around CQC's five key questions and your own statement of purpose, so you can evidence how your service will be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

5

Decision, certificate and launch

Typically 10+ weeks after submission

We respond to any CQC queries or requests for more evidence, and once you're approved we help you plan your first months of compliant operation — ready for your first inspection.

What you'll need before you apply

Incomplete applications are the most common cause of delay and rejection. We make sure every one of these is in place — and consistent — before anything is submitted.

CQC registration questions, answered

Ask us anything →
How much does CQC registration cost?
CQC doesn't charge an upfront fee to apply, and registered manager applications are free. Once registered, you pay CQC an annual provider fee based on your service type and size. Budget separately for DBS checks, training and insurance. Our own support is a fixed fee, agreed in writing before we start — no surprises.
How long does registration take?
Allow at least ten weeks from submission for CQC's assessment, and plan for three to six months end to end including preparation. The fastest applications are complete, consistent ones — that's exactly what we prepare, and we chase progress on your behalf throughout.
What happens in the fit person interview?
A CQC inspector tests whether you understand your legal responsibilities and can run the service you've described — expect questions on safeguarding, staffing, medication, governance and your statement of purpose, framed around the five key questions. We run realistic mock interviews until you can answer with confidence and evidence.
My application was rejected or returned — can you help?
Yes. We review CQC's feedback, find the gaps — usually inconsistent documents, weak governance evidence or an unprepared interview — and rebuild the application properly before you go again. Many of our clients come to us after a first attempt on their own.
Which services do you register?
Domiciliary care and home care agencies, supported living, extra care, residential care homes and complex care services across England. Not sure where your model fits within CQC's regulated activities? That's the first thing we'll clarify on your free readiness call.
